QUESTION & ANSWER WITH GURUDEV
POSTED ON: FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2019

Q: Gurudev, I feel I have never done enough for my parents and this bothers me. How do I deal with this feeling?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

When there is deep love, you always tend to feel that you have not done enough. If you ask any mother, “Have you done a lot for your child, or all that you had to?” She will say, “Oh, I don’t think so. I feel I have not done much”.

In love one never thinks “I have done enough”. That only happens when you get very tired and exhausted. When you have this feeling, “I have to do more (for someone)” then that is a sign of love.

There is nothing to gain by thinking about the past over and over again. Let it go!

We judge people just by seeing their outer limited behavior or expressions. But it could be our own inability to see their magnanimity.

How To Maintain Intimacy

Intimacy often gets broken because of ego or your desire. What breaks intimacy?

1. Ego or taking a position
2. Desire
3. Taking intimacy for granted
4. Finding imperfection in oneself or others
5. Expectations
6. Insensitivity or over sensitivity
7. Lack of vivek or vairagya (lack of discretion or dispassion)
8. Judgements
9. Grumbling or lack of gratitude

Dissolving into infinity is the way to maintain intimacy. Intimacy is dissolving into infinity. Dissolving into infinity brings you to the moment. Go beyond events. Dissolve into infinity, be in the moment, and look beyond the events. This is the way to maintain intimacy.

Q: In Mahabharata, even Arjuna could not get heaven. How come Kaurava got heaven even after doing wrong things?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Well, you know, whenever people die they say, "Swargvaas ho gaya", means he has gone to heaven. This is one way to tell that someone has departed from this world. Not that they are all gone to heaven, but it is a term used.

'May their soul rest in peace' or 'Rest in heaven', is a general word. It is not that Kauravas were better than Pandavas, nothing of that sort. When they wrote this, it was written in a poetical form, so you should not take it so seriously. Otherwise, you will feel that Kauravas also went to heaven, then we might also go to heaven after doing wrong things.

A person who is not connected to his own consciousness can never be strong. It is only when one becomes centered within oneself that great strength dawns. That alone is true strength.

There is nothing to ask and nothing to say. Just be quiet a little and see, either your questions will disappear or the answers will simply come to you.
