There are some things that we can change through our actions. And there are some things that we just cannot change. We have to accept them the way they are.

Indigestion Of Knowledge

Indigestion of knowledge leads to development of a false ego which has no cure. Knowledge must be digested properly.

Indigestion of knowledge leads to:

⚫False ego
⚫Disinterestedness; taking for granted; lack of awareness
⚫Familiarity without understanding, without depth -- flakiness
⚫Tendency to preach
⚫"Heart" burn
⚫Using knowledge for their own small ends
⚫Adamancy

Your inability to do something (break a habit) can cause a pinch; when you are deeply pained by something, then that will rid you of that habit. If you are pained by your shortcomings, then you are sadhak. Pain takes you out of addiction.

If you are in love with the divine, then you can digest the knowledge. Love is the appetizer -- seva is the exercise -- without love and seva, knowledge becomes indigestible. So everyone list the loving seva you have done for the world.

Marielle: If love is the appetizer, what is the main course?

Guruji: Knowledge

Daniel: What is dessert?

Guruji: MYSELF!! (Laughter)

Q: Is it necessary to have ambition in life?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Have a goal. When water is everywhere, it is a flood, but if it is in between banks, it is a river. It is nice to have a goal, so your life force gets channelized!

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

We judge people just by seeing their outer limited behavior or expressions. But it could be our own inability to see their magnanimity.

The way out of sorrow

If your are unhappy you better check if one or all of these are lacking: Tapa (penance), Vairagya (dispassion), Sharanagati (surrender).

⚫Tapas is agreeing with the moment, total acceptance of pleasant or unpleasant situations.
⚫Vairagya means I want nothing and I am nothing.
⚫Sharanagati is "I am here for You, for Your joy."

If you are grumbling then these are lacking, because when you accept the situation you cannot grumble; when you take it as Tapa you will not grumble; when you come from a state dispassion ("I don't want anything") you don't grumble; and if you are surrendered you will have no complaints.

All these three (Tapas, Vairagya and surrender) purify your mind and uplift you in joy.

If you don? do it willingly you will do it in desperation. First you say, "Nothing can be done." Then in anger and desperation you say, "I give up, I want nothing, I have no choice, to hell with it!"

Q: Where is the boundary for the mind and soul? Until where is the mind, from where does the soul start?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

Like there are waves and the ocean. Just as there are waves in the ocean, mind is in the soul. So the mind is not a different entity. It is the wave of the ocean. It comes up a little bit and then calms down, again comes up and then calms down.
