Meaning of the Mahishasura story:

Meaning of the Mahishasura story:

The buffalo is a symbol of inertia. When we fall in inertia, we become insensitive and dull. There is no energy or enthusiasm to take initiative or do something to change a situation - "Oh! Let it be. What can I do?" The degradation of society has happened not so much due to the action of the bad but the inaction of the good. This inertia clouds our virtues and qualities (gods are defeated). We can get out of this inertia by awakening every part of our consciousness (all devas contributing their energies). In the process, we have to overcome strong negative tendencies, impressions and feelings that are present in us (armies of Mahishasura) before attain victory over inertia.
