QnA with Sri Sri
Saturday, August 1, 2015

Q: Why is India the favorite destination for enlightened masters? Why is India the only country that is bestowed with a rich spiritual heritage? Is there something special about this land?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: There have been saints in almost every part of the world. If you go to California, every city is named after a saint. Go to Quebec in Montreal, it is all named after different saints. Of course, India tops the list.

It is like asking, why are the Alps in Switzerland? Why are there such big beautiful lakes in America? Why does the Niagara only have such big falls? That is how it is! Every land is gifted with something special. Geysers are found in Yellowstone Park. From ages, India has been the land of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. Perhaps that is why today, when it comes to knowledge and IT, India has become number one, since it is a knowledge based industry. Perhaps, this land is more accustomed to knowledge. Higher wisdom or enlightenment is in the DNA of this land. But no part of the world is devoid of wisdom; go to China, Japan, there are many saints there.

What you pray for is what you think you cannot achieve with your limited resources, skills, or your effort. That is when prayer happens. Then you say, ‘I need this, but I don’t think I can do this. Please grant me this’. While asking, you also can add, ‘If you think there is something better in store for me, then let that happen!’ - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Deeper Meaning of Guru Purnima

It is Purnima (Full moon day) today, but it is very cloudy. This is how it is in life also. You are beautiful and pure just like a full moon, but that is not visible because of the clouds (here meaning inertia and negativity). When grace starts showering in life, all these clouds start to move away and disappear, and then the fully blossomed moon becomes visible.

In the same way, there is a veil (of ignorance) over knowledge. Just understand this: Whenever we are miserable, discontent, and restless, in those moments there is a veil or curtain over our vision, and we are facing away from the light (of knowledge). We are facing away from the light of God in such times, which is why we feel surrounded by darkness. At such times our shadow (of sorrow or misery) appears large and we feel afraid just by looking at it. Whenever we experience some fear in life, it is because of the shadow (of worry or misery) that we see. And we keep struggling and fighting against the shadow. So what do we need to do to overcome this? We need to simply turn towards the light; towards the Guru. The instant we turn to the light, in a matter of seconds the darkness around us disappears, and the shadow we were fighting with also vanishes.

QnA with Sri Sri
Friday, July 31, 2015

Q: Please tell us the significance of ‘Guru Purnima’.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: An Acharya (guide in religious matters) gives shiksha, which means knowledge. A Guru gives diksha, and diksha means the height of awareness.

A Guru does not simply stuff you with knowledge but he kindles life force in you. What happens in the presence of a Guru? You become more alive. Every cell in your body becomes alive, and this is called diksha, which means the height of intelligence; not information.

An Acharya gives you information, but a Guru invokes intelligence in you. The pinnacle of the intellect is an awakened intelligence, and the Guru awakens that intelligence.

The mind is connected with moon, and full moon is a symbol of completion, of celebration, and of a pinnacle. So Guru Poornima is the day when the disciple wakes up in his fullness, and in that wakefulness, he can’t but be grateful. So he is full of gratitude.

This gratitude of not the gratitude of you and me, or of dvaita (duality), but it is the gratitude of advaita (non-duality). It is not a river moving from one point to another point, but it is an ocean moving within itself. It is that gratitude.

See, a river moves, but it moves from somewhere to somewhere. And an ocean also moves, but it moves within itself. So gratefulness of Guru Purnima symbolizes that fullness of the student, or of the disciple. And the disciple, on this day, celebrates in gratitude.

Humility and Humor

Yoga is something that brings humility and humor, both. And both are your very nature. If we had more humility and humor, this world would have been a very different place. Don't you agree with me?

All the wars are because of ego, and lack of humility and humor. Just a small word from somebody can cause such uproar in the world. Simple things have caused huge disaster because we lack humor.

Confusion and Decision

Decision comes only when there is confusion. When there is no confusion then there is no decision. For example, if there is a piece of wood and a biscuit on your desk, you don't decide which one to eat, isn't that right? Decision is always about choice and choice is always confusing. So, all decision-makers are confused! (Laughter)
...
Action is spontaneous when there is no actor. In you, there is an actor and there is a witness. An actor is either confused or decisive, but the witness realizes that the action is spontaneous and smiles.

The more decisions you make, the more confused you are, and as a result you swing between pain and pleasure. The more the witness grows in you, the more playful and untouched you are. Trust, faith, love and joy all manifest in and around you.

Are you confused, decided or happy now?

Q: On a count of one to 100, if the stone is rated as zero and human beings as hundred, what is the level of the remaining beings?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: What is the need to give a rating? Everything belongs to One, is part of One. One has taken these infinite forms. Even in the zero and the hundred, there is everything. Even a stone will have jadta (low prana) and chaitanya (consciousness). Jad and chaitanya, both, are merged in Brahma (creation). They are one part of the Brahman. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagwad Geeta, “This maya is also from Me, the whole world is in Me, yet I am in none.” The philosophy in the Bhagwad Geeta may seem confusing. Without a true experience, the philosophy will seem like just principles. Go deep within yourself for the true experience of the Self.

Communication from a Deeper Level

We convey more through our vibrations than through our words. Our communication happens from a deeper level of our existence, and yoga is uniting with that.

You can hear a talk on love for two hours and you may not feel it. But just one glance from a baby or a puppy conveys that to you in no time. So true communication happens from a deeper level. And this communication is not just between two people or a few people. It is between us and this entire existence, and that is yoga. Yoga is not just doing some exercise. Yoga is much more. It is to bring a quality to our life. It is to expand our awareness, sharpen our intellect, and enhance our intuitive ability.

Q: From the ‘Art of Living’ to the Art of Giving, we hear that in arguably lesser spiritual society, people are giving more and more. We just heard what’s going on in the US where many billionaires can’t recall the number, giving away at least 50% of their wealth for the betterment of society. So that concept, that nature of giving, “more spiritual society” has still not seeped in. How do you reconcile that?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: I would say America is very spiritual. There is 500% increase in spiritual interest in past 10 yrs. If you go to California, there is a lot of awareness about spirituality, especially eastern spirituality. In India, there has been this tradition of giving from long back. All the hospitals are built by business families. Every dharamshalas, it was called dharamshala, talabs or the ponds are made by the business houses. Temples are built by business houses. Not by the government, but business houses. If at all Indian spirituality is sustaining, it is being sustained by the business rather than the state throughout the country. Yes, there has been a decline in giving in the past few years. It is lack of spirituality. Maybe they are going down in spiritual values.

Maybe in some places, they are becoming more religious than spiritual. That could be a reason also. But still even today if you go to villages, the amount of caring and sharing the people have is amazing. You go to any village, they may have just 1 glass of lassi but they will share half with you. They do value these values of sharing. It’s in the villages but is disappearing from the urban areas as you say. And it has to be brought back.

Q: I am in this course (advanced course) but this time around I slept through all the meditations. May I ask what is wrong with me?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Yeah, not only you but others also notice that you are sound asleep. It’s okay. You know when your body is so tired, you must have been up late night and so much of stress might have accumulated. If you fall asleep never mind, that is why the program is for four days.

First reason could be that your body could be very tired, second the food must be very tasty and you must be eating a little more than required, and if you take yogurt and a little heavy food in the afternoon, sometimes then you will fall asleep. So, you can reduce the food, just one spoon less, two spoons less. Eat a little less food; drink more juice or vegetables or fruits. Third is if you lack oxygen, if you have not done some little exercise or take a walk, brisk walk or a little jogging in the morning then also this may happen. One or two rounds of bhastrika also help.

What Are a Mother's Responsiblities?

You have a responsibility towards your husband and your kids. You have to fulfill that, and you should do it with complete honesty and sincerity.

Do not go on the pleasure trip and think, “I will do only that which gives me comfort and pleasure”, that is no good. People who follow pleasure alone get ruined, but people who follow commitment in life, those who do service towards others, will surely shine out.

Remember that you have a responsibility at home. Keep your family happy and united. Meditate every day to find your inner happiness. Do not expect something from your kids.

I tell you, you do your duty towards your children, and remember that God is there to take care of you. You have not produced children so that they take care of you in the future. If that was the intention, then you are totally mistaken. I do not think this is the idea in any mother’s mind.

Dr. APJ Kalam was a President with a difference. He was deeply spiritual, connected with young people, and worked tirelessly toward uniting people of all faiths. He was a unique combination of science, the arts, and philosophy. The Art of Living had a long standing relationship with Dr. Kalam. A man of humor, he deeply cared for society. In fact, as President, when he heard that I would be going to Sri Lanka to meet Prabhakaran and help resolve the conflict, he excitedly offered to accompany me even if it meant going beyond protocol. We Need to Make the Blood Alkaline

See, the kind of food that we eat in India is acidic in nature. Eating acidic food causes joint pain, lethargy and diseases in our body. So what should we do about this? We need to make the blood alkaline to balance this. So I would suggest you to drink alkaline water. Do this and see how it brings a change in your health.

All vegetables are alkaline, while fruits are mainly acidic. Spices, rice and even milk is acidic. So you need to change this. Two to three hours after your meals, you should drink some alkaline water. Do not drink it immediately before or after your food, as the food will not get digested properly.

How can you make water alkaline? Take one litre of water, put four cut pieces of cucumber and two small pieces of lemon in it. Keep this overnight and the water becomes alkaline. Drink a glass of this alkaline water two to three hours after your food. Or if you have already drunk some alkaline water, then you should leave a gap of at least one to two hours before you have eat your meals. Try this and see how the pH of your blood becomes better.

Reduce the quantity of grains and cereals in your meals. Food should get well digested. We eat so much and then it does not get digested well, because of which you experience cramps and aches in the body. So once every few days, do not have any grains or cereals in your meals at all, just have raw or boiled vegetables.

We have a tradition in our country that on the days of Ekadashi, we fast and do not take any grains. Why is this so? For 15 days we consume all sorts of grains and rice, and that creates acidity in the body. By fasting and avoiding grains completely for one day, that phenomenon (of acidity) gets reversed.

Nowadays we have left that tradition, or sometimes we do not get time to follow it properly. So, every two to three months, for a few days, you should only have boiled vegetables with a little salt, and no grains at all. Do this and see what good change you experience in your health.

We often boil vegetables too much, and drain away all the water in which the vegetables have been boiled. When we do this, all the nutrients are lost and we eat only the remaining portion, which is not very nutritious. You should not boil them too much, except potatoes.

Eating potatoes raw is no good. Usually in India, people often have tomatoes, potatoes and brinjals, and eat less of green vegetables. We should consume more of green vegetables.

You should also have the Oorja tablets from our Sri Sri Ayurveda. It helps to complete all the deficiencies in our diet.

Do you know, drumsticks are so rich in vitamins and minerals. It is said that the leaves of the drumstick tree have nutrition equal to 10 bananas and 20 oranges. Our body should get balanced and nutritious food.

A Discourse on Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8 by , 15-17Aug, . Reg for Pgms:

QnA with Sri Sri
Monday, July 27, 2015

Q: Why does our mind run after fame money and glamor? Is it necessary?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Well, you got this question! First, you understand that the mind is running. Then you get this question, ‘Is it necessary?’ I leave this question to you. It is very personal, very individual. I don't think it is necessary. But my answer will not necessarily suffice for you. It is has to come from within.

Otherwise, it will be just a mood making. ‘Oh, I don’t want money’, but one part of the mind will say, ‘No, I need money.’ One mind will say, ‘I don’t need fame and another will say, ‘No, I need fame’. Like this, the conflict starts happening. But when you wake up and see, and see those people who have had all this - how shallow and hollow they are, then naturally you find there is no significance in all this. Then neither will you crave for it, nor will you make any effort to renounce it. People who say, ‘I don’t want fame’, inside, somewhere, the mind is saying, ‘Oh, I want fame, I want fame’.

When the sun has arisen, what is the use of torchlight? You are moving with torchlight and suddenly you realize there is no meaning in moving with the torchlight, when the sun is there. Then that is your experience, your true experience. So when you run behind things which are illusive - you will realize that it is causing more pain, more suffering and ‘it is not giving me what I really want’.

Then there is fulfillment, centeredness, a subtle solid strength comes from within. Then if fame comes, money comes, it doesn’t touch you. It comes or doesn’t come, doesn’t matter to you. ‘I want it’ or ‘I don’t want it’ are two sides of the same coin. Somewhat we need to be – let it be.

Letting Go!

Every time you breathe in, you have to breathe out. Without breathing out, you cannot breathe in.

You are able to indulge in anything because you leave it for short intervals in between. Is someone able to eat continuously without stopping? No. You eat and then you stop. The same is for any experience that you gain from the five senses. Can you keep on listening to music without any break?
No. You listen to music for a while and then you want to shut it off. You cannot eat 24 hours a day, or listen to music 24 hours a day, or smell something 24 hours a day. In the earlier times fragrances were very popular with people. Nowadays, you are getting fragrance free soap. You are getting everything free of fragrances.

All the experience you gain from your five senses, including the thoughts that come out of your intellect cannot be carried on continuously.

Let us say that you have 20 questions. You ask one question after another, but after that what? Suppose you have learned everything, you have received the answer to all your questions, then what next? Just to satisfy this little intellect, we want an answer to calm it down.

The element that is beyond the intellect is within you. Every answer has just one objective, to make you silent. Every question has just one objective, to dive within. If diving within is all that you want to achieve, then what is the purpose of asking so many questions. What will you achieve after asking all these questions and listening to all the answers? Just relax.

Somehow you have to let go of all the things you have learnt. There is a saying in South India, “Unless you forgot what you have learnt, you will not achieve liberation”. All the things you learn — music, Ayurveda, chemistry or physics, you have to forget it. Unless you forget it, there is no liberation.

Q: We have the Rudra Puja and Vishnu Puja in our tradition, but why is it that we do not have any practice of Brahma Puja (worship of Lord Brahma)?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Well, that is because Lord Brahma’s task of creating the Creation is over (laughter). Lord Brahma is present in Lord Shiva, and Lord Brahma is also present in Lord Vishnu. He (Lord Brahma) resides in everything. So when you worship Lord Vishnu, you are also worshipping Lord Brahma. The essence is to see that One Divinity in everyone and everything, and to also see everyone and everything as a part of the Divine. This is the point.

There is a term called as Brahmavadin. One is Lord Brahma, the other is the Brahman (the formless, eternal, all-pervading One Consciousness or Divinity). Do not confuse the two. There are no puja rituals to be done for the Brahman, that is the Paramatma or the One Divinity. You can only contemplate and meditate upon the Brahman. In order to prevent people from getting confused between Lord Brahma and the Brahman and treating formless Divinity as an object or deity of worship, our ancestors may have made a distinction between Lord Brahma and the Brahman.

Is Art of Living a Sect?

You have said sect. You should define what a sect is. Sect is perhaps a very closed mindset where you feel you are special and the other person is excluded. And this is true with every religion. People of every religion on this planet feel a special right for themselves. The Hindus think that they are special. Jains think they are special. Muslims think they are special. The Christians or the Jews think they are special. Everyone thinks that they are special. That becomes a sect. But when one says that 'The whole world is my family and everyone is part of me' then how can you even call it a sect. Art of Living breaks all barriers of caste, creed, religion and nationality. Don’t you think so?

But if people insist that we are a sect, then it is okay. We are a sect of happy people. There are only two sects in the world. One is the sect of happy people and the other is the sect of unhappy people. There are people who are angry, upset, frustrated, irritated and unhappy, and there are people who are happy, content, compassionate and loving. You can choose to be a part of whichever you want — the stress free sect or the stressed sect.

Is The Direction of Meditation Important?

During meditation, you can sit facing the sun. If the sun has set, then you face to the north. It doesn’t matter in which direction you sit for meditation. Direction is relevant only to the body. In meditation you go into the formless aspect of consciousness. It is same everywhere. So it really doesn’t matter.

But for japa (meditative repetition of mantra) or pooja (worshipping) usually you sit facing east, north or north east. During these also we sit in the south direction sometimes. No problem.

QnA with Sri Sri
Thursday, July 23, 2015

Q: How will you guide the modern youth who want to join politics for the betterment of our country?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: First, you do your sadhana and broaden you vision. Second, you need to have enormous patience. You go with a big vision and there are all chances that your vision is squashed and smashed and it may reach a point that you will want to throw it away. But, don’t lose heart. You may have to face disappointments one hundred times, but the 101th time you will succeed, but for this you need to have patience and perseverance. You should hold onto your vision and your ethics. Third, never forget your spiritual side. Whatever work you have and however busy you are, take that much needed 4-5 days for a silence program once in a year. Take 20 minutes every day to sit and listen to knowledge and meditate. This will keep your energy up.

As a politician be careful about two things:

1.Money
2.Sex

These are the two things with which people can create scandals about you. You have to be careful not to be maligned. It is very easy to be maligned and then you will waste all your time in proving these false allegations. Better be careful from the very beginning as these are the two areas that can create scandals against you.

In the field of politics, when you are moving ahead, there are a hundred people trying to pull you down. So as a young, enthusiastic aspirant, you have to be very clean on these areas.
Another point is, don’t make politics a profession, it should be your mission. If it is your mission, you get enormous strength, energy and enthusiasm. But if you make it a profession you will have to experience a lot of wear and tear. So, keep these points in mind.

Q: When we read about the bad deeds of people in the newspaper, can it also affect our karma?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: No, you should read it lightly. If you take it into yourself, yes it affects your mind. Otherwise, it won’t affect anything else. Read lightly and forget about it. It is all part of the universe.

What is Ardhanareshwar?

Each one of you is made up of both the mother and the father element. It is through the father’s sperm and the mother’s egg that you come into existence. So in you there is half father and half mother, or half male and half female. That is what is Ardhanareshwar (a composite form of the Hindu God Shiva and his companion Parvati).

The whole universe is the manifested and the hidden, together. It is the body and mind, together. It is the seen and the unseen, together. It is masculine and feminine, together. This makes it complete. Inside you there is both mother’s DNA and father’s DNA. It doesn’t matter whether your body is male or female.

Q: Across the world, Yoga is a billion dollar industry, India now has a Minister for yoga too. Could you list out what India should do to become the crest jewel of yoga once again?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: We need to have a quality control in yoga; anyone cannot say anything and call it yoga. All yoga teachers should do certain hours of the practice of yoga each day. Today someone attends a yoga class for a week and then they become yoga teachers. They can’t move their body but they instruct others to move their bodies. They can’t sit still for 10 minutes, and they talk about meditation to others.

If you cannot sit still for a few minutes, how can you teach meditation? Walk the talk and talk the walk should be the slogan for a yoga teacher, and they should have a thorough training on yoga.

It is good that the Government of India has come up with quality control measures in yoga. They are designing methods and setting up standards to certify yoga teachers, and this is necessary. It was the same with Ayurveda. There is a joke between the Ayurvedic doctors. They say, “Yasya kasya taroh mulam yena kena api gharshitam | yasmai kasmai pradatavyam yat va tat va bhavishyati”. (The root of this or that tree - mixed with something or the other, given to someone or the other will cause anything!)

This is what was happening in Ayurveda. But, in the past few years the Government has standardized the practice, the medicine, and the doctors. I wouldn’t say that the education on Ayurveda is the best, it has to improve a lot. There are doctors who have finished their education in Ayurveda and don’t know how to take nadi diagnosis (pulse reading). It needs improvement, but at least some standard has come.

In the same way, if someone wants to teach yoga they should know about the nature of the mind, about the patterns of breath, about the seven layers of existence, then they can become good yoga teachers.

Fearing Death?

Death can come at anytime in one’s life. As long as we were busy in many activities in our lives, we are not afraid of death. When there is nothing left to do, we start to feel that we are going to die.

Everyone has to die one day. But the important thing is that when we die, we should have a smile on our face. We should feel contented that we have fulfilled all our responsibilities and duties.

We all cried when we came into this planet, but it is important, that at least when we go, we are happy and smiling. Do not have regrets in life. You should feel that, ”I have done what I had to do, and whenever the time to leave this body comes, I will die happily”.

Whatever service we can do for others, we should do it before we die.

QnA with Sri Sri
Tuesday, July 21, 2015

Q: If we use valor to handle a situation, elders feel we have forgotten our manners. How to handle the situation?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Don’t justify your anger as valor. If you’re arrogant, and behave rudely, your behavior cannot be justified. Valor is an inner phenomenon. It gives immense patience, perseverance and inner strength. It does not mean screaming, and shouting. Screaming, and shouting means you are weak. If you’re really strong, you will just smile. You move with confidence. You will be unfazed. That is valor.

This is one side of the story. The other side is that whatever you do, someone will criticize you. You will be blamed if you act, and even if you don’t act. If you speak, or don’t speak. You can’t keep pleasing everyone.

If your focus is on finding shortcomings, either in yourself or in others, you cannot raise higher. Recognize that if someone gives a comment, reflect on it. If there is some truth, accept it. If not, then thank them and move on. Don’t ask them why. Just say: ‘I appreciate your perception’ and move on.

How to Go Deeper in Meditation

You are in the right place. Don’t be in a hurry. Do your practice and keep doing the Art of Silence program every 3–4 months, at least for a couple of years, and will start going deeper into meditation.

Doing the Art of Silence course once is not enough. Not enough at all! You have to do it again and again. You know, when they whitewash the wall, they put primer first and then put one coat, and then the second coat, and the third coat, and every few years, you have to repeat the whole process again.

This is because there is wear and tear. In the same way, we are using our mind, our intellect, our memory so much, that it needs overhauling, it needs servicing. Our body needs servicing, our mind needs servicing, and the Art of Silence courses give us the much needed servicing.

Scientists say, if you meditate for eight weeks, the structure of the brain changes. The grey matter increases, your immune system becomes stronger, your intellect becomes sharper, and your memory becomes clearer. So many benefits have been ascertained by scientists, and we have seen this in our practical life.

QnA with Sri Sri
Monday, July 20, 2015

Q: I am living in a phase in which I am allowing my emotions to take over me, and I am aware of this. Otherwise, I feel they get suppressed. Am I on the right path?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Emotions are such that sometimes you should abstain from them, and sometimes you should express them. You can’t take extreme views here. You cannot always suppress your emotion and you cannot always keep expressing your emotion. Both will bring you difficulties and trouble.

If you always suppress your emotion you will be in trouble. If you always keep expressing your emotions, then also you will be in trouble and you will put others also in trouble. That’s why emotions should be streamlined through wisdom. When there is wisdom then you know which emotion to express and which not to express. And where you should express, and where you should not.

Suppose you are at a funeral service of somebody, then you can’t say, ‘Oh, I am so happy’, and keep jumping! People will feel like slapping you. You may be happy but you cannot express that.

Similarly, if you are sad and there is a wedding party or reception happening, you can’t go and say, ‘I am so sad’. People will not like to see you sad as they are celebrating. You will spoil the whole atmosphere.

So you have to use your discrimination - where, when, how you must express your emotions and where it is not wise to do so.

Am I Progressing on Spiritual Path?

Never mind – don't worry about your progress. You are progressing – there is no way of regression on the spiritual path; there is always progress.

There is no definite criteria, but you can ask yourself, 'Are you more happy? Are you more calm? Can you handle situation better than what you used to before?' These are some criteria, but it is not necessary that they must be taken as criteria. But one thing:just turn back and see, how was your life before you got on the spiritual path, before you even started meditating, and how is it now. Is there any difference? How many of you find there is a difference? See, when a big difference is there, that is it—you have already progressed!

Can you relate to the person you were twenty years ago? Are you the same person now or a different person? How many of you say you are a different person? (Many in the audience raise their hands) Yes, you are different.

Q: I have been in love with a girl for the past four years. Recently she broke up with me because of some misunderstanding. I want her back and don’t know what to do.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: Basically you broke your heart. Okay so what do you want? You want her back right? What is the guarantee that if she comes back to you she will be happy? Do you know how to achieve what you want? You have to go deep inside. You have to become calm and centered. When you are feverish, your mind is agitated. You lose all your charm. If you are not charming, what is the guarantee that anybody will stay with you? You have to make yourself pleasant, charming, strong and subtle. Who wants to be with someone who is unhappy, sad or depressed? First get rid of your sadness. Shake off the past. accept the lessons from the past and move on. You have to become strong, serene, and calm.

Only when you meditate, do pranayama and Sudarshan Kriya, Yoga then you can have all the four. Do yoga and you will see the difference immediately? When the difference comes your wishes will start being fulfilled.

When you are desperate, you can do only two things. Either commit suicide or repose in yoga. Only spirituality and knowledge can bring charm into your life. A yogi is one who not only can fulfill his desires but can also fulfill others desires.

How to Create Positive Mindset

Just know that the tendency of the mind is to hold on to something negative. If ten compliments and one insult are given, the mind holds on to the negative – that one insult. So when we know this, we are already one step out of it. Time and again, we must realize "I am going on a negative trip" and immediately come back to the here and now.

Another solution is high prana. More the prana (life force energy) increases, the less negativity will be there. When there is no energy, that is when you feel more negative. And when you have high energy, negativity is nowhere; it is gone.

So the best way to get rid of negativity is to be youthful. Being youthful means having the attitude, "I will take the challenge!", and not saying, "Oh, I have a problem." Always say, "I have a challenge."

First, change the problem into a challenge. And then, nothing is a challenge. We have energy, we have enthusiasm. So when we move with this mindset, our whole action takes a different course – the course of success.
