Q: Guruji, What is the secret to make a marriage work?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar: I think you are asking a wrong person. You know there was a gentleman here from Germany and a lady from Italy. They both had married several times before. They said Guruji, ‘we seek your blessing that this marriage atleast should work’. I asked that Gentleman whether he knew Italian, he said ‘No’ and I asked whether the lady knew German, she said ‘No’. They both did not know English. Then I told “Don’t learn each other’s language it will work”. 

There is proverb in kannada which means ‘Its only with words conflict begin. Its only through words people have fun. Its only through words people gain wealth also. So words should be used sparingly. Usually people when they have misunderstanding they say ‘we will talk it out’. The sit and talk it out does not work at all. We should never talk it out. Just move on, that’s it. Don’t ask any explanation about the past. 

Suppose you make a mistake and someone keeps asking for your explanation about the mistake. It will be such a burden to explain your position and justify yourself. Never make others feel guilty. That is very important. Whenever you make others feel guilty, they cease to be your friends somewhere deep inside. That friendship tied bond gets loose. 
One secret for women – A lady should never step on the ego of her man. One secret for man – Men should never step on the emotion of his woman. For both of your -Don’t ask for proof of their love. Never give the burden to someone to prove their love. And see if this works.
