Wisdom Workshop which taught kids from 10-18 years of age:

How our ancient people lived in harmony with the creation?

About Ayurveda and Sanskrit?

About the saints and great kings of our land?

About how any of this is relevant to your life today?

Below is a transcript of the session taken by Bhanumati Narsimhan, Gurudev’s

sister on Chanting of various Sanskrit Shlokas.

You are very fortunate to learn shlokas. When Gurudev and I were growing we

learnt the Bhagawad Gita. One of our neighbors was a Gandhian, she used to live

with Gandhi and had fought for the freedom of our country. Every evening she

used to teach Bhagawad Gita for an hour. We were the youngest so we used to sit

in the front and she would give us a chocolate or a biscuit everyday so I used to go

only for the sweets. And today I am so greatful that I went as she gave the sweetest

thing that is the shlokas. You are so well founded that you sat in this class, learnt

all of this and shown interest in coming here and learning the Ancient Wisdom that

is our wealth so you will definitely remember this class when you grow older. You

will be grateful to all your teachers because this is a precious knowledge that

makes you sweet. So this wisdom is the smile for your soul, heart and mind.

You know when when Guruji and me were children like you our mother would give

chocolate to us and Guruji would tell me to offer it to God first and then eat. I will

offer it to God two times and the third time I couldn’t resist eating it. So one day I

asked my father that why should we offer God the chocolate even when He doesn’t

eat? My father was taken aback but little Guruji told that God won’t take it but the

chocolate would taste more sweeter. So whenever you eat Prasad from the temple

it would taste sweeter, you can test it once. That’s why we offer it to the divine

because the divine has given all this to us. Be grateful. That gratitude makes you

sweeter. So just offer it to God because -

whatever we eat becomes our mind.

So let me tell you a story.

Once there was a great king who always welcomed all the saints. They will come to

him and have Prasad. Once a great saint came to the king’s palace and he ate in the

palace and when he went he took all the silver things. Usually when you go to

somebody’s house, you eat and come back empty handed. So its as good as stealing

but nobody could understand because he was a great saint and nobody could call

him a thief and so the king ordered to find out the reason why this happened. Then

the king got to know that all the food cooked that day for everybody was all

procured by thieves. Since the purity of consciousness of these saints was so high

that it made him steal that night and return the next morning. That’s why the say

what you eat becomes our mind, we really need to take care of what we eat. Right

time, right food makes you wiser and brighter.

Sanskrit shlokas sharpens your intellect. Sanskrit language is best suited for

computers. Children who practice Sanskrit shlokas get away from stammering.

Satsang means being in the company of good people so you get good vibrations.

To keep your mind happy and calm you should meditate. When you are confident

half the hurdles are cleared but when we are fearful we make many mistakes.

Guruji says life is joy, love and enthusiasm. Guruji tells the adults to be like children.

Krishna represents bal mukund because the child in you, the innocence in you is the

bliss. Nowadays even younger ones are also getting bored because of food. We eat

the wrong food mixed with chemicals so we should be aware of what we eat. We

should grow and eat more organic food. It was so nice being with you all.

Thank you.
